A local sustainable clothing brand run by two third level students has just won a prestigious Student Enterprise Award.

Pure Clothing, which was established last year by Enniscrone native Richard Grimes (UL) and DCU student, Peter Timlin from Ballina to offer a sustainable, environmentally-friendly alternative to fast fashion, has won the Grant Thornton High Achievement Merit Award at this year’s Student Enterprise Awards.

Peter Timlin and Richard Grimes have experienced great success with their eco-friendly, sustainable clothing range, Pure.

Richard and Peter, who are past pupils of St Muredach’s College in Ballina, have shipped more than 3,500 orders of their clothing range in just over one year, focusing much of their marketing and brand storytelling efforts on social media platforms like TikTok where they enjoy a following of over 75,000

They are currently looking to expand Pure’s operations to the retail and international market and winning the Grant Thornton High Achievement Merit Award will be a significant boost to their efforts as the accolade carries a prize fund of €5,000 as well as expert industry mentoring,
