Aldi Ireland says it aims to commence construction on its latest new Mayo store shortly.

In February last, the company secured conditional planning permission to construct a single-story, environmentally friendly discount store together with parking on a site currently occupied by the derelict Deanwood Hotel on Bury Street in Ballina.

The development phase will see the creation of 50 construction-related jobs.

Colin Breslin, Regional Managing Director, Aldi Ireland, told the Western People this afternoon that while the Covid-19 pandemic had temporarily halted construction around the country, Aldi remains on track to open its new Bury St outlet in 2022:

“We are looking forward to opening our new store in Ballina with 30 new permanent jobs to be created at the store once it opens.”
