The Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council, Cllr Dara Mulvey has paid tribute to former Cllr Paul Conmy who sadly passed away on Wednesday.
Mr Conmy was first elected to Sligo Co Council as a FG councillor in 1985 and served for over two decades which included a stint as vice chairman of the local authority in 2000.
Cllr Mulvey recalled the late councillor as a dedicated public representative who gave a lifetime of service to his community.
He worked tirelessly alongside the people of west Sligo and this was greatly appreciated by the people in his area, he said.
“Paul was widely respected by his fellow elected councillors who he served with and his wide range of interests was reflected in the issues he tabled for discussion in the council chamber.
“Our thoughts are with his wife Breda and family at this sad time.”
Mr Conmy’s remains will repose at his residence on Friday evening from 6pm to 8pm for family, relatives and close friends only.His funeral Mass will take place this Saturday at 1.30pm at the Church of the Holy Family, Kilglass with funeral proceeding to St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Kilglass.
