Delays to rail services to and from Westport have been caused today by a dramatic incident that saw a lorry crash through a level-crossing barrier.
The railway barrier at Bellacagher, which intersects the N60 — the main Roscommon Town to Castlerea road — was damaged following an incident this morning.
Footage released by Irish Rail shows the lorry crashing through the barriers as they are about to be lowered, causing extensive damage.
Train services between Westport and Dublin have been affected as a result of the damage caused to the barriers at the level crossing.
There were also delays experienced by motorists travelling on the N60 between Oran and Ballymoe.
Iarnród Éireann has appealed to all road users to act safely at level crossings.
