Mayo University Hospital has the third-highest number of patients on trolleys and wards in the country today.

There were 21 patients left waiting on trolleys and wards at the Castlebar hospital, according to the latest Trolley Watch figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO).

Only University Hospital Limerick (52) and Galway University Hospital (29) had higher numbers. Trolley figures were also high at Sligo University Hospital with 18 patients there without a hospital bed.

Meanwhile, as of 8pm last night there were three confirmed Covid-19 patients at Mayo University Hospital. The hospital’s ICU remained Covid-free. There were six confirmed Covid cases at Galway University Hospital; two at Sligo University Hospital and two at Portiuncula.
