An area in Mayo has one of the lowest median prices for household dwelling purchases of any Eircode in the country, according to recent figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

Ballyhaunis has one of the lowest median prices in the nation at €91,000. Only Castlerea, Co Roscommon (€85,000), and Clones, Co Monaghan (€86,000) had lower property prices.

In the 12 months to February 2021, the median price for a residential property in the area was €617,500, in sharp contrast to that of the Eircode with the lowest median price, Castlerea, Co Roscommon, of €85,000.

Blackrock in Dublin has the highest median price for house household dwelling purchases.

Overall, residential property prices increased by 3% nationally in the same 12-month period, showing a rise from 2.6%t in the year to January.

The most expensive Eircode in Mayo was Westport. Median prices in the tourist town were over €100,000 higher than those found in Ballyhaunis coming in at €195,000 according to the CSO.

Next was the Castlebar Eircode at €166,000 followed by Ballina (€125,000); Ballinrobe (€120,000); and Claremorris (€115,750).
