There were no confirmed Covid-19 patients recorded at Mayo University Hospital for a second consecutive day.

The turnaround comes after a lengthy period earlier this year where the Castlebar Hospital routinely has some of the highest Covid-19 patients numbers in the country.

Mayo University Hospital (MUH) was among six hospitals that saw no confirmed Covid-19 cases as of 8pm last night.

Sligo University Hospital saw its confirmed case numbers drop from two to just one last night. Portiuncula Hospital’s figures fell from five to one while the number of confirmed Covid-19 patients in care at Galway University Hospital increased by one to 10. The number of people in hospitals with Covid-19 across the country is at levels not seen since before Christmas.
