Good Friday party-goers in Westport were among those issued with fines for breaching Covid regulations over the weekend writes Marian Duggan.
As part of a major Easter operation, gardaí in Mayo set up a number of checkpoints and a total of 30 fines were handed out to those breaking the rules.
Half of those fines were issued on Thursday night/ Friday morning after Gardaí broke up a house party in the Westport area.
Another 15 Covid tickets were issued on Friday night/Saturday mainly to people who were travelling further than 5km from their homes.
The remainder of the weekend was relatively quiet.
Gardaí said there were no reports of an influx of visitors to scenic areas despite the good weather.
Gardaí had warned people of additional checkpoints over the Bank Holiday weekend in an attempt to dissuade people from travelling outside their locality and gathering in groups.
