The Ballina community is rallying around the popular local Melvin family following news of the death of Pardaic Melvin in Dublin at the weekend.
Mr Melvin passed away peacefully last Saturday, March 27 following a short illness.
He lived in Portmarnock and while he spent most of his adult life in Dublin he never forgot his Mayo roots.
He was a passionate supporter of the Mayo GAA team and an active member of the Mayo Association of Dublin.
An avid golfer, Padraic was also a leading light in the Past Pupils’ Golf Society of St. Muredach’s College, Ballina which raised substantial funds for cancer care charities and the Mayo GAA team training fund through its activities over the years.
Beloved husband of Joan; loving father of Darragh, Patrick and Gillian and cherished grandfather to his ten grandchildren, Padraic will be sadly missed by them all and by his brothers Eddie (Dublin), James (Ballina) and John (Castlebar); sisters Patricia MacHale (Dublin), Helen Boland (Enniscrone) and Marie Claire Melvin-Gallagher (Ballina); son-in-law, daughters-in-law, relatives and friends.
