Over €10,000 of illegal drugs were seized in the Knockmore area of Ballina last night, Monday, March 22, as part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of drugs in the county.

Members of An Garda Síochana’s Mayo Divisional Drugs Unit, together with local gardaí, conducted a search under warrant of a premises at Corroy, Knockmore at around 9pm last night.

A quantity of suspected cannabis with an estimated street value of €2,500 and cocaine valued at approximately €8,000 was uncovered during the search.

One male was arrested at the scene.

The man, who is in his 30s and from the locality, was taken to Ballina Garda Station where he was detained for questioning.

He was released without charge this morning.

A file is now being prepared in relation to the incident and will be submitted to the DPP for directions.
