EirGrid has just announced that it will host a series of webinars on the development of the North Connacht 110kV line in the coming weeks.
The project will see the construction of a power line between the Moy substation near Ballina in Co. Mayo and Tonroe substation near Ballaghaderreen in Co. Roscommon in order to create additional capacity for increased renewable energy generation in the west of Ireland into the future.
There was major opposition among communities in the study area for the project to any overhead line options for the development.
Their fears were allayed last Tuesday, March 16 when EirGrid confirmed that, following extensive public consultation, it would pursue an underground route as the emerging best performing option for the power line.
This morning the company confirmed that it will hold three webinars to discuss how it envisions the North Connacht Line developing from here.
Each webinar will include an opportunity for Q&A.
Advanced registration is not required.
