As the Covid-19 pandemic leaves Ireland under lockdown again for St Patrick’s Day 2021, the north Mayo community is planning to mark the national feast day on March 17 next with another car parade.
The parade will assemble at the local hall from 11.45am and proceed at midday. While participants are obliged to remain in their cars due to public health guidelines they are urged to make their presence felt and maximise the fun by dressing in green and decorating their car in green.
Locals are invited to watch the parade from their windows or gardens while following the strict Government advice on social distancing.
It is estimated that the parade will last between 60 and 80 minutes.
Organisers hope it will prove a day to remember for locals and children especially who have been deprived of so many of the things that normally bring joy into their lives in the last year.
