A Mayo councillor is demanding answers over the high number of Covid-19 deaths in the county.
Mayo has seen more than 150 Covid deaths. Cllr Michael Kilcoyne has submitted a question for a meeting of the HSE West Health Forum seeking an explanation.
“According to available figures, 152 Covid-19 deaths have taken place in Mayo. I want to establish how many of those people died at MUH and how many of those people tested negative when admitted to the hospital and subsequently contracted the virus in the hospital,” said Cllr Kilcoyne.
“I would like to know if there were better facilities available at MUH, like additional accommodation and additional staff, could the death rate have been lower?” he added.
