All Connacht GAA post-primary schools competitions for the 2020-21 academic year have been officially cancelled by the Connacht Council.

A statement from Connacht GAA secretary John Prenty this afternoon confirmed the decision of the Post Primary Schools Committee to formally cancel all championship and league competitions in football and hurling across the post-primary age grades.

“The Connacht GAA Post Primary Schools Committee has unfortunately had to make the decision to cancel all Post Primary Schools competitions for the remainder of the current school year due to the restrictions imposed by the current pandemic,” read the statement.

No post-primary Gaelic Games activity was allowed while schools were open between September and December 2020, and while a planned reopening of schools is set to begin from next week, contact sport and training are still prohibited under the Covid-19 restrictions.
