The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases at Mayo University Hospital have dropped dramatically.

There were 30 confirmed cases being treated at the Castlebar hospital as of 8pm last night. That’s down from 43 the previous day. It’s the lowest figure recorded at the hospital since December 31.

MUH was treating two confirmed Covid-19 cases in their critical care unit where just one bed was available last night.

Elsewhere in the West, the Covid patient numbers increased by five at Galway University Hospital to 37. There were 10 confirmed cases at Sligo University Hospital and three at Portiuncula.

There are 754 people with Covid-19 in hospitals across the country today. That’s a 62% drop from the peak figures recorded last month.
