Funeral details have been announced for a Mayo man whose remains were found in Galway this week.

The late Joe Langan will be laid to rest in his native Lacken this weekend.

Joe Langan (38) of Barnhill, Carrowmore-Lacken, Ballina and 20 Wellpark Grove, Galway was reported missing on January 26 last and searches for him had been ongoing since then.

An Garda Siochana yesterday confirmed the tragic discovery of Joe’s remains in Galway and the Mayo community has rallied around his heart-broken family with messages of sympathy and support.

It has now been confirmed that Joe’s funeral Mass will take place at 12 noon in St. Patrick’s Church, Lacken this Saturday, February 20, followed by burial in Rathfran Cemetery.

Due to current regulations the church is confined to family only.

Joe is sadly missed by his heartbroken parents John-Joe and Mary-Claire; brother Aidan; sisters Mairéad and Aishling; his grandad Jimmy Finnerty; uncles; aunts; relatives; neighbours; work colleagues and friends.

May he rest in peace.
