Mayo Co Council is due to deliver a decision in less than three weeks on a planning application that, if permitted, would transform one of the main approaches to Ballina town.
The application, which was submitted on December 7 last, seeks permission for a change of use to an end of terrace two storey commercial building.

Located at the junction of Kevin Barry St and James Connolly St, the premises, which has been vacant for many years, is now earmarked for a residential development.
The application proposes to carry out internal alterations to the existing building and construct a new second floor level in order to provide three one bedroom apartments.
The proposed development would transform the existing streetscape which marks the entry to Ballina town from the main N26 road and is currently dominated by vacant premises.
Mayo Co Council’s planning section is due to issue a decision on the development proposal on February 9 next.
