Fianna Fáil Senator Lisa Chambers has welcomed the news that Ireland now stands top of the EU league table in the number of vaccines administered per 100,000 of population.
“This is great news and positive information for our citizens. The HSE and vaccinations teams have worked round the clock to get all vaccines delivered out to people right across the country. The focus has been on long term residential care residents and staff and front line healthcare workers. By Sunday 24th January we are on course to have administered 140,000 vaccines which is a huge logistical task,” said Senator Chambers.
“Further good news is the confirmation that three mass vaccination clinics will be operational from tomorrow in Galway, Dublin and Portlaoise to vaccinate our GP teams from across the country. These clinics will be administering the first doses received of the Moderna vaccine. Our GPs have been on the front line since this pandemic began and are the first port of call for all covid cases. They have worked so hard and it is so great to see the vaccine finally reaching them,” Senator Chambers added.
