The Mayo GAA community is in mourning following the death of Frank Mortimer, Shrule.
Frank is deeply mourned and sadly missed by his loving wife Carmel, sons Frank, Kenneth, Trevor and Conor, daughters Elaine and Tara, brothers Stan, Oliver, Dermot, Georgie and Austin, sisters Helen and Loretta, mother Evelyn, 14 grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended families and a large circle of friends.
Frank was a well-known businessman, having established the family business Mortimer Quarries in the 1960s and was involved with local GAA in his own playing days.
His sons Kenneth, Trevor and Conor later all went on to represent Mayo at inter-county level.
Mortimer Quarries posted a tribute to Frank on their Facebook page.
“This morning we said goodbye to Frank, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to many. One of nature’s absolute gentlemen. May he Rest in Peace.”
Funeral Mass for Frank will take place at 12 noon on Wednesday, 13th January in St. Joseph’s Church, Shrule with burial afterward in Shrule Cemetery.
In keeping with HSE Guidelines, the church is confined to ten people, those lining the route are asked to observe social distancing.
The Funeral Mass will be live streamed on the Shrule Parish Facebook Page and can be listened to on Parish Radio 101.4.
