Mayo County Council is to shut a number of public car parks in popular amenity locations.

The local authority has announced that council-owned car parks at Lough Lannagh, Raheens Wood, and Moorehall will be closed.

The closures come into effect from 6pm today. They follow a request from local gardaĆ amid worries about large numbers of people congregating and visiting the walking and beauty spots from beyond the 5km limit.

Earlier this week, Mayo County Council shut the car park at Croagh Patrick while Sligo County Council has restricted access to beaches and some other amenities due to Covid-19 fears.

Comments are closed.
