A brand-new campaign entitled ‘Stuif na Nollag’ (#CeannaighSaGhaeltacht) has been launched by Irish language planning officers in the Gaeltacht to local businesses and producers during the festive season.
Gaeilge Iorrais is running this campaign in the North Mayo Gaeltacht area and hopes to help showcase local businesses and producers, create awareness about the importance of buying locally and also to encourage the local community to get involved.
“If you’re based in the Erris Gaeltacht and produce or sell any Christmas fare, crafts, local produce, toys, gifts, decorations, anything suitable for Christmas, we would love to hear from you. We encourage you to participate by filming a brief 30-second video i nGaeilge which showcases your products and also how to purchase same. Send your video to [email protected] before Monday, November, 23 which will be shared on social media in December with the hashtag #ceannaighsaGhaeltacht,” said Laoise Ní Dhúda, of Gaeilge Iorras.
“We’re hoping to support our local Gaeltacht businesses and producers with this campaign. If you have any Christmas goods for sale (cakes, toys, decorations, gifts, bouquets, vouchers etc), we would like to help you publicise them as Gaeilge. This is a wonderful opportunity for muintir na Gaeltachta to support each other this year and particularly during these difficult times. We can’t wait to see the fabulous local produce and gifts which are available. To encourage local businesses and producers from the Erris Gaeltacht to get involved, Gaeilge Iorrais will buy a €30 voucher from the first five businesses/producers that send us a video as Gaeilge for this campaign before the deadline on Monday, November 23,” she added.
