Mayo Sports Partnership has come up with a challenge to keep you active during the winter months.

The Run Up To Christmas Challenge is open to anyone who can walk 1k a day and complement’s the government’s “Keep Well” campaign which is aimed at encouraging people to mind their physical and mental wellbeing by adding healthy, helpful habits to their daily and weekly routines.

Launched on November 6 last the campaign affords up to 50 days for participants to walk, jog or run towards a goal of their choice, with five suggested milestones to make it more achievable as well as the promise of possible prizes at the end of the challenge.

The suggested milestones include: 50k (1k a day); 100k (2k a day); 150k (3k a day) and 200k (4k a day) OR 600,000 steps for the 50 days ie: 12,000 steps a day which is the equivalent of 10k a day.

If you’re interested in taking part, Mayo Sports Partnership recommends that you set a goal to be physically active four or five days per week and select a milestone target for the end of the campaign.

Then simply screenshot your weekly total for November and December and submit by email to [email protected] to be in with a chance of winning lots of prizes.

Every participant who completes the challenge will receive a specially commissioned medal while category winners – which will be decided by Mayo Sports Partnership staff – will receive Elvery’s vouchers and other prizes.
