There is deep disappointment in Crossmolina this evening following confirmation from the local community festival committee that exciting planned Halloween events have had to be cancelled.
In a social media post today, Crossmolina Festival Group said the proposed movie-themed “Hocus Pocus Party” & “Hollywood Horror Night” can no longer go ahead as planned due to the soon-to-be increased Covid-19 related public health restrictions.
Huge effort had been invested into planning the events in order to ensure that they would be contactless and safe in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.
They were already 90% booked out but the level 5 restrictions which are due to take effect later this evening mean the events cannot now happen because they are classed as non-essential.
The ban on travelling beyond 5km also makes them unviable.
“To say we are disappointed would be an understatement. We were – like many – looking forward to the events, especially after many weeks of planning, preparing and considerable investment,” the organisers stated in a Facebook post.
Thanking the events’ sponsors, the many volunteers involved in planning them and everyone that purchased a ticket, the committee appealed for patience as it works to process full refunds for all ticket-holders.
