Ballina businesswoman, Niamh Ryan, has been honoured today as one of the country’s Leading Lights in enterprise.

The Leading Lights accolade was introduced by Ireland’s LEOs as a means of acknowledging business owners from around the country that have shown exceptional leadership, resilience and innovation.

The 2020 winners have been revealed today, Wednesday, October 14, which is National Women’s Enterprise Day and include Niamh Ryan.

The successful entrepreneur and mum-of-four is a highly experienced beauty, skincare and cosmetics professional with a background in marketing.

She has run the Bella Beauty hair and beauty salon in Ballina’s Quay Village for the last 9 years and established the skin care and cosmetics company, Ella & Joe, with business partner Charlene Flanagan in 2017.

That award-winning enterprise has allowed Niamh to channel all of her passions and experience into one to create products that deliver quick results for busy women including a revolutionary make-up brush cleanser, a 3-in-1 hyaluronic skin mist, a hyaluronic hydrating skin serum and the Happy Hands hand hygiene product.

Niamh says innovation and flexibility enabled Ella & Jo to come through the pandemic stronger than ever.

In recent months the company has focused on its direct-to-consumer channels and on creating engaging home solutions for customers.

It has also shown support for frontline workers by sending products to local and regional hospitals and offering them exclusive discounts.

Niamh says Mayo LEO has provided incredible support to the business and was extremely responsive to the Covid crisis.

She revealed that the future looks bright for Ella & Jo Cosmetics with exciting plans in the pipeline both in terms of creating more innovative, fun and accessible products and potentially expanding to other markets in 2021.

When asked about National Women’s Enterprise Day, Niamh said it affords recognition for the incredible work women are doing to shape the future of business in Ireland:

“If SME’s are the lifeblood of Ireland female entrepreneurs are the heartbeat – they connect and bring so many people together,” she remarked.
