Specialist interviews will be carried as gardaí continue to investigate the alleged rape of a teenage girl in Charlestown.

It’s understood gardaí will be speaking to a number of witnesses in the case, including the alleged suspect, and due to their ages and the sensitivities of the case specialist interviewers will be drafted in.
Gardaí launched a public appeal for information after the alleged offence in the playground area of the town at Lowpark was reported to them on Saturday, September 28. It was alleged to have occurred at 7.30pm with gardaí receiving a report later that evening.
The following morning locals woke to find the playground cordoned off and a forensic examination of the area taking place.
The Divisional Search Team was also on site looking for evidence.
No arrests have been made in the case but gardaí say they are “following a definite line of enquiry” and are making progress.
Anyone with information is asked contact Garda in Claremorris on 094 937 2080 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
