The numbers receiving the pandemic unemployment payment in Mayo has jumped by more than 1,000 in the space of a week.
The introduction of Level 3 restrictions has seen the number of people in the county rise to 5,125 as of October 13, compared to 4,052 on October 6. The numbers remain significantly lower than earlier this year when 16,400 Mayo people were in receipt of the payment in May.
Elsewhere in the West, there are 11,578 people receiving the PUP in Galway. In Sligo, the figure is 2,659 and 2,234 in Roscommon.
Nationally, there are 228,858 people in receipt of the payment. The number of people in the accommodation and food service sector receiving the pandemic unemployment payment increased by 18,249 since last week.
