Ballina will soon boast an enhanced outdoor experience on its streets thanks to an allocation of funding for the town under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
Local independent Cllr Mark Duffy has welcomed the allocation of €40,000 to Ballina under the funding programme.
Thanking the officials of Mayo Co Council that collaborated with him in applying to the Department for Rural and Community Development for the funding, Cllr Duffy revealed on Monday that the monies will be used to enhance the town to facilitate more outdoor eating and socialising as well as to improve facilities for cyclists:
“We have received €40,000 in funding which will be used to enhance public seating, bicycle parking and two canopied seating areas to encourage and enhance the outdoor experience in Ballina.
“Looking forward to seeing this enhance our town centre further,” the councillor remarked.
