The first cases of Covid-19 in a Mayo GAA club have been confirmed tonight.
Ballyhaunis GAA Club has said that positive cases have been identified within the club but have not said how many.
In a statement posted on Twitter, the club said that HSE public health and contract tracing have been in contact with the club and that all necessary protocols are being followed.
“In the interest of public safety and our club members, we would encourage everyone to continue to follow the current Covid public health advice in place while we await further instruction from the county board,” the statement read.
The Ballyhaunis senior hurling team was in action today against neighbours Tooreen in the Genfitt Mayo Senior Hurling League, however, there has been no suggestion that the players or officials at that game were exposed to any risk.
