A case of Covid-19 has been confirmed at a school in East Mayo. This is the second confirmed case at the school in question, which the Western People is not naming to protect the privacy of students and teachers.
All affected parents have been notified of the confirmed case by the HSE.
In a correspondence to parents, seen by the Western People, the HSE said “this is the second case in the school but there is no evidence of spread of infection in the school.”
They added that a public health risk assessment has been undertaken and the parents of any children deemed to be a close contact of the confirmed case have been contacted and advised accordingly. Any child that is not identified as a close contact at this time will not need a test for Covid-19 and can continue to attend school, the correspondence continued.
In Athenry, Co Galway, a case of Covid-19 was also identified at Little Treasures Creche. Management closed the facility on Monday and immediately contacted the HSE, Tusla and parents. The HSE was then supplied with full contact details of each parent, and those who’d come in contact with the confirmed cases.
