Mayo Co Council has been notified of a plan to develop a 91-bedroom residential care unit on Howley St in Ballina, writes Orla Hearns.

A planning notice has just published in respect of the planned development on behalf of Ciun Healthcare.

It provides for the creation of the two-storey residential care unit to include 91 ensuite bedrooms, communal areas, a kitchen, treatment rooms, internal secure landscaped gardens as well as the demolition of two dwelling houses on Howley St to allow for the realignment of an existing internal access road and an upgraded site entrance.

It also proposes to construct a new internal access road, car and bike parking as well as service systems and connections.

Once lodged, the planning application can be inspected by the public at local authority offices and submissions may be made in writing within five weeks of the date of the application’s submission.
