Emergency services and members of the gardai attended the scene. Three of the occupants were taken to Mayo University Hospital with a fourth passenger removed to University College Hospital, Galway. His condition deteriorated and he was transferred to Beaumont Hospital, Dublin later that night where he remains in critical condition.
