Ireland is currently ranked at level two of the Government’s new five level medium term plan for living with the Covid-19 pandemic.

Details of the Resilience and Recovery 2020-2021: Plan for Living with Covid-19 plan have been outlined by the Taoiseach this morning.

It is geared at managing risk and repairing the damage that COVID-19 has inflicted on society and is based on three core pillars: protecting health, strengthening employment, and supporting communities.

The Government says the new framework of restrictive measures will help people to go about daily life as much as possible, while managing the behaviour of the virus.

The lower levels will be activated when there is low incidence of the disease, with isolated outbreaks and low community transmission.

The higher Levels will be used to deal with higher incidences of the disease.

Ireland is currently ranked at level two but the new plan sets out some tighter restrictions for Dublin in light of rising Covid-19 numbers there in recent weeks.

It will be possible for different regions and counties to be at a different levels to the national level, depending on the incidence of the virus in that particular region or county.

At all times the priority guiding the plan will be to keep schools open, while keeping people safe and protecting the resilience of the economy and communities.

At Level 2, the majority of areas of economy and society, for example: schools, restaurants, pubs and gyms, are open.

Sporting activities can continue, but with a higher level of restriction, the plan states.

Up to 100 patrons/spectators will be permitted at outdoor fixtures and 50 at indoor events.

An attendance of up to 200 is permitted for outdoor stadia or other fixed outdoor venues with a minimum accredited capacity of 5,000

Social or family gatherings in private homes or gardens will be generally limited to visitors from one other household only or up to 6 visitors from 2/3 other households with no provision as yet for exemptions at Christmas time even though it will fall within the time frame of the new plan.

Theatre and live events will be allowed in small settings.
