Mayo County Council has been allocated funding of over €500,000 to refurbish 45 units under the 2020 Voids Stimulus Programme.
The funding will allow the Council to refurbish and re-let housing units to people on the social housing list.
The allocation follows the announcement last July by Minister Darragh O’Brien of the largest single amount ever invested in the voids programme – €40m – as part of the stimulus programme.
Local FF TD Dara Calleary has welcomed the fact that the allocation to Mayo will facilitate the refurbishment of 45 units under the scheme – which represents an investment of €516, 218 in housing.
“I look forward to the works being carried out in a timely manner by the Local Authority so that they can start to re-let these units to people who urgently require accommodation,” the TD said.
