A rescue helicopter landed in a field in Knock this afternoon after a local man sustained injuries to his hand.
The ambulance service also attended the scene on the old Kilkelly Road out of the village around lunchtime before the man was airlifted to hospital for treatment.
It’s understood the local resident was operating a chainsaw when the accident occurred.
Hedge cutters were working in the area at the time but the incident is not connected with them.
The helicopter could be seen circling the village on a number of occasions before landing in the field belonging to a local farmer.
Locals said they were “shocked” by the incident and wished the injured party a speedy recovery.
