Two of Mayo LGFA’s key players have signed contract extensions with AFLW side West Coast Eagles.
Sisters Grace and Niamh Kelly have re-signed to play with the Perth-based outfit until 2022.
They are joined by the Eagles latest Irish recruit, Aisling McCarthy from Tipperary.
The sisters, who play their club football with Bohola Moy Davitts, first signed for the Eagles in April of last year. The pair returned to Ireland in April following the cancellation of the 2020 AFLW season due to the coronavirus.
The news of the contract extension will be disappointing for Mayo Ladies manager Peter Leahy, who earlier this year laid down the gauntlet and said any Mayo footballer wanting to play in the women’s Australian Football League should forget about a place in his Mayo squad when they return.
