A well-known Ballina DJ has put together another video showcasing the heydey of Ballina nightlife in the 1980s and 1990s.

Local DJ Dermot Rice, who operated under the name NRG2 with fellow DJ John Moyles, was at the epicenter of the town’s famous clubbing scene and has been putting together videos using archival footage capturing a special time in the history of the town.

His latest video, titled ‘Who’s In The House?’ features hundreds of local clubbers filmed inside the local Roxys and Hothouse clubs with over 25 minutes of classic footage filmed over three nights, against the backdrop of classic tunes that Dermot and his fellow DJ’s would have spun back in the day.

The footage is edited to show as many faces, hairstyles, and senses of fashion as possible, and to remind nostalgic viewers of some of the great music they all loved.

Dermot said he is happy about how his previous videos have been received, as they have helped to reunite and reconnect old friends who might have lost contact with each other.

“I have been told that the other videos have helped people to catch up with old friends they haven’t seen in years! Some people told me they never got as many friend requests as when the last few videos came out.”

“I didn’t expect these videos to take off but it’s an added bonus to see how these videos reconnect us, in uncertain times that threaten to disconnect us.”

The video premieres at 9pm tonight.

Dermot’s last video titled ‘The Wild, the Innocent & The O’Rahilly Street Shuffle’ can be seen by clicking HERE.
