Ballina Arts Centre has joined forces with a local company, Event Audio Visual (EAV), to provide a novel platform for talented performers.
From Friday, August 7 next the two will collaborate on the staging of Friday Night Live from Ballina – a series of multi-camera, live-streamed events that will facilitate both artists and fans to enjoy the thrill of live performance from the safety of their own homes via Ballina Arts Centre’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
The events will comply with Covid-19 public health guidelines and will be streamed live from Ballina Arts Centre every Friday night at 8pm until such time as live audiences are permitted at gigs again.
Popular local group, Gorilla Radio, will kick off the series on August 7 next and thereafter an eclectic array of local musicians and artists from the area will feature in the weekly event which will be hosted by Mags Downey-Martin.
Announcing the launch of the initiative in a Facebook post, Ballina Arts Centre manager, Sean Walsh, said:
““We are delighted to be hosting Friday Night Live from Ballina, at Ballina Arts Centre. The current restrictions on live events have had terrible consequences for theatre and arts centres and live music venues. It is great to be able to host the events and broadcast them online. It’s a platform for showcasing local music talent”.
The EAV Facebook post added: “There is a need to support our arts as they are there for us throughout our lives enriching them for the better. This new venture will be a safe and exciting way to do so.”
