Fine Gael Deputy Michael Ring has joined in the plaudits going Dara Calleary’s way following his appointment as Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine. Deputy Ring said the appointment addresses the “regional imbalance” that had been the highlight of much scrutiny in the past number of weeks since Taoiseach Micheal Martin announced his Cabinet.

Deputy Michael Ring stated: “I wish to take this opportunity to warmly congratulate Dara on his appointment as Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine. I am delighted to see that the Government have addressed the regional imbalance which existed with regards to senior ministerial posts in Government whereby the West of Ireland were left without a Senior Minister”.

“On a personal note- I want to wish Dara and his family the very best of luck and every success as he embarks on his new role” concluded Deputy Michael Ring.

Fine Gael Deputy Alan Dillon also sent congratulations the way of his fellow Mayo TD.

“I look forward to working closely with Minister Calleary in government on many topical issues at both local and national level.”
