An x-ray and ultrasound suite are among the services that could be delivered at Ballina Primary Care Centre subject to a grant of permission for a proposed extension.
The HSE/Community Healthcare West has just announced that John Halligan Architects firm is in the process of lodging a planning application on behalf of a developer to expand the current Ballina Primary Care Centre on Kevin Barry St in the town.
The proposed development will comprise of a three storey extension to the rear of the existing building; a change of front entrance and additional car parking facilities.
The extended area will be 1,574sqm/16,942sqft in size.
The plan is good news for Ballina as the expansion of the existing primary care centre will allow all primary care services to be delivered within one town centre site.
The development will include an x-ray and ultrasound suite in conjunction with a hospital outreach area.
When completed the centre will provide additional accommodation for the following existing adult and paediatric services: physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy as well as public health nursing, dietetics, dental, psychology, audiology, x-ray and ultrasound services.
