Some householders in Charlestown and the surrounding areas have woken up today and discovered they have no water as a result of a power failure that occurred during the night.

Irish Water and Mayo County Council have said that crews are currently checking for airlocks throughout the scheme and that it’s expected a full water supply should be returned to all customers by 1pm today once the reservoir has been restored and the distribution lines recharged.

Irish Water says it understands the inconvenience when water supply is interrupted and has thanked customers for their patience while they work to restore normal supply as quickly and as safely as possible.
