A quaint and cosy cottage in one of the most picturesque corners of Mayo could be yours for just €10 thanks to the astounding generosity of its owners.
The three-bedroom property in Askillaun, near Foxford, at the butt of the Ox Mountains, is being raffled for the purpose of donating the proceeds raised towards the healthcare workers who have placed their personal safety on the line by steering Ireland through the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to estate agent CK Properties, the vendors of this cottage both had the virus and were extremely lucky to have survived it, and now want to acknowledge the courage of the healthcare professionals who went to work every day knowing that they themselves could be infected at any time.
“The money raised is a simply gesture. Health Care Workers can never be thanked enough for supporting the people and country in its time of need,” read a statement on the company’s website.
The cottage, which sits on the banks of the Yellow River on a generous 0.30 hectare plot, is described as oozing “charm and life from every corner”, and as well cared for by its current owners.
The raffle winners are said to be guaranteed a “picture-perfect” home.
All of the ticket money is being administered and managed by Dublin-based accountant, John O’Sullivan.
