Elverys MacHale Park in Castlebar is to be used by the HSE as a Covid-19 drive-thru testing centre from next week. The news was confirmed by Mayo GAA in a statement this afternoon.

The county grounds of Mayo GAA will become the latest in a line of GAA stadia around the country to be deployed as testing centres, with grounds including Croke Park and Pairc Ui Chaoimh already in use.

Access to MacHale Park will be strictly restricted to those working on-site as testers and those attending appointments. Testing will be by appointment only.

In its statement, Mayo GAA said: “We are delighted to be able to help the HSE at this time and we urge everyone to continue to respect the social distancing guidelines that are currently in place.”
