An Garda Siochana has confirmed that the remains of a woman were discovered on the beach in nearby Enniscrone, Co Sligo yesterday afternoon, Monday, January 21. Enniscrone bathhouse and beach

It is understood that the body was found near the shore by a walker at around 1.30pm.

Emergency services were called to the scene and retrieved the remains.

Gardai have declined to comment on whether there is a connection between the find and the search that has been ongoing in the vicinity of the River Moy in Ballina for almost a week now for a woman that has been missing from Crossmolina since Wednesday, January 8.

Results are awaited of DNA testing that is ongoing in Sligo at present.
