Mayo Co Council says last night’s stormy conditions caused significant damage across the  county. rain

A status orange wind warning  was in effect between 9pm and 1am last night and resulted in reports of several incidents of fallen trees and branches in various locations throughout Mayo.

The local authority’s call-out crews worked late into the night in very challenging conditions and continue to deal with these incidents this morning.

A full assessment of storm damage is currently being conducted and the council is asking the public to continue to exercise caution and to report any trees down and debris-related issues to the following relevant local area offices: Belmullet (097) 81004; Westport (098) 50400; Ballina (096) 76100; Ballinrobe (094) 954 1029; Castlebar (094) 906 4000 and Claremorris (094) 937 2310.
