With just a handful of tickets remaining for the two-show run of its latest musical this weekend, Ballina’s Kilmoremoy Kids’ Drama Group looks set for another sell-out production.
Established by the then 12 year old Jack Cronin in 2016, the group has, to date, staged a total of three fundraising musical productions, showcasing the talents of children from the greater Ballina area while also raising over €9,500 for various charities along the way.
This year’s production is inspired by the hit musical movie, “Into the Woods” which starred Emily Blunt, James Corden and Meryl Streep.
Entitled “Into the Wood”, it blends elements of many of the greatest fairy tales into one magical story in which a baker (Gavin Gilligan) and his wife (Rebecca Cronin) are left childless as a result of the curse of a once-beautiful witch (Saoirse Allen).
Three days before the rise of a blue moon they set off to find ingredients that will break the curse and restore the witch’s beauty. These include a milk-white cow, hair as yellow as corn, a blood-red cape and a slipper of gold.
Along the way they meet Cinderella (Caoilfhinn Geoghegan), Little Red Riding Hood (Laura Jackson), Rapunzel (Annabelle Durcan) and Jack (Henry McLoughlin).
“In to the Wood” will be staged in Ballina Arts Centre on Saturday, November 23 at 7.00pm and Sunday, November 24 at 2pm.
Tickets cost €10 for adults, €7 for children and €30 for a family of four (2 adults and 2 children).
All proceeds will go to the local St Dymphna’s and St Nicholas’ Special Schools.
Ticket availability is now very limited so book now to avoid disappointment via www.ballinaartscentre.com or by calling (096) 73593.
