Davy Fitzgerald, an All-Ireland winning hurler both as a player and a manager with Clare, will be arriving in Westport tonight (Wednesday, September 25) to officially launch Mayo’s Fittest Superstars, a fundraising event for Knockroooskey National School.

Mayo’s Fittest Superstars is based on Ireland’s Fittest Families, which was created by Davy Fitz’, and will take place on October Bank Holiday weekend, hosted by Knockrooskey NS. This unique fundraiser will be launched at 7.30pm this evening.

Davy Fitz will be in attendance and will announce the teams that are to take part in the event. He is currently the manager of the Wexford hurling team although recent speculation has seen him linked to the vacant Galway hurling post.

The event will take place in the Dome Suite of the Castlecourt Hotel on October 27 and will see 12 teams battle it out to be crowned ‘Mayo’s Fittest Superstars.’ The fundraiser will aid with providing multi-sensory play facilities and a playing pitch for the school. Knockrooskey NS currently has 204 pupils.
