A fire above McKane’s Pharmacy on O’Rahilly Street in Ballina

A fire broke out above McKane’s Pharmacy on O’Rahilly Street in Ballina’s town centre shortly after 1pm today.

Firefighters and Gardaí are attending the scene.

Workers in the buildings next door to the premises were evacuated and pedestrians told to clear the area as smoke billowed onto the street. 

Traffic is being diverted away from the town centre and motorists are advised of long delays around Ballina as a result of the blaze.
