Auction hammer with money

The Bohola land parcel auction is expected to generate big interest.

Interest levels in the public auction of a Bohola farm are expected to be high this week if only to see who buys it, writes Marian Harrison.

The land is one of the largest parcels to come on the market in Connacht for years.

The Park Hotel in Kiltimagh is the venue for Tuesday’s sale of the 186-acre residential farm, with Savills Auctioneers confirming “lots of interest” from farmers in Munster and Leinster and people in the UK planning on returning home to the west of Ireland.

“Because the Basic Payment Scheme entitlement being included in the sale, farmers are attracted to it because there’s a guaranteed source of income,” said Liam McCarthy of the world-renowned property house.
With a guide price of €700,000 the farm, in the townland of Carrowmore and along the banks of the Gweestion River, is available in one block or as two separate lots.
