Mayo’s first Educate Together school could commence operating in Ballina by September of this year.

A public meeting is being held in the Merry Monk bar and restaurant on the Killala Road at 8pm tonight, Tuesday, April 29 in relation to proposals to have Newtownwhite NS, just off the Killala Road in Ballina, transferred from Church of Ireland patronage to Educate Together patronage.

Jarlath Munnelly, who is Educate Together’s Regional Officer, says there is a lot of interest in the proposed Educate Together school locally and that the appointment of a Principal will be the next step.

Tonight’s meeting will be attended by representatives from the Educate Together school in Kilcolgan including a member of the teaching staff and a parent who is also Chairperson of that school’s board of management. They will answer any questions the attendance may have.
