The Fine Gael local and European election campaign for the Ballina electoral area will be launched on Saturday April 12 at 8:30am at the Merry Monk, Killala Road, Ballina.

The launch will be performed by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny and will be attended by local TD, Deputy Michelle Mulherin and local candidates.

The party has selected a team of six candidates to contest the local elections for the new Ballina local electoral area, which comprises Swinford, Foxford, Knockmore, Ballina, Crossmolina, Moygownagh, Killala, Bonniconlon and Ballycastle.

Sitting Councillors Joe Mellett, Jarlath Munnelly, John O’Hara, and Mark Winters will be joined in the contest by Neil Cruise and Padraig Staunton. Additionally, Mayo-based MEP Jim Higgins is seeking re-election to the European Parliament for the Midlands/North West Constituency and he is being joined on the Fine Gael ticket by Meath-based Mairead McGuinness MEP.
